Dog Saliva

So what is it with people having a problem with dogs giving kisses to babies? They let us sit close to them but once we open our mouths to pass on a little kissiepoo the defensive moves begin and we get pushed away and the sudden movement of the big human usually upsets the calmness that was previously established and the poor little baby cries? geesh

These kids in high school thought enough of dog saliva to do a science project to determine that there was significant potential in their experiment to show that the antibiotic properties of dog saliva would merit more study.

According to this site, if your newborn is licked by a dog, she will always be a fast healer.

And this article promotes letting your dog lick its own wounds for faster healing.

So common - just because we sometimes also lick our privates doesn't mean…well maybe it does…

  1. I had heard about that study. I believe it, too, although I would warn that we humans should not lick our wounds as our saliva is much less effective in this capacity.
