Get that…

I know, you think its cute when you tell me to "get that…" creepy, crawly thing that you're just not brave enough to get yourself although you do have that opposable thumb! Here's some dangerous creatures to canines that you may not really want us to "Git."

First Day of Spring

Since I live in Seattle I often have to go out in the rain. Most of the time I don't mind getting my feet wet, especially when I'm out on my lead. I really like to dig around in the dirt and stuff so I wouldn't want to wear rainboot sandals all the time. But when we go on walks to the beach and there's lots of puddles and stuff - these would be great!

Dog Saliva

So what is it with people having a problem with dogs giving kisses to babies? They let us sit close to them but once we open our mouths to pass on a little kissiepoo the defensive moves begin and we get pushed away and the sudden movement of the big human usually upsets the calmness that was previously established and the poor little baby cries? geesh

These kids in high school thought enough of dog saliva to do a science project to determine that there was significant potential in their experiment to show that the antibiotic properties of dog saliva would merit more study.

According to this site, if your newborn is licked by a dog, she will always be a fast healer.

And this article promotes letting your dog lick its own wounds for faster healing.

So common - just because we sometimes also lick our privates doesn't mean…well maybe it does…

The Iditarod sled dog race begins March 7 in downtown Anchorage with the restart on March 8 in Willow.  Just like the Yukon Quest that runs from Whitehorse to Fairbanks, The Iditarod is an endurance race where you battle the distance as well as the elements. You never know if there will be snow on the trail, wind, blizzards, overflow…

There's a special Canine blogger for the race - Zuma's Paw Prints gives more information about the athletes themselves (the dogs) then other happenings.

Once again, I have chosen my favorite musher to follow during the race, can you guess? Yep, Marty Buser! Go Marty!

I have a new human cousin - a pretty little girl! Kylie was born last week to Rachelle's sister. I'm so glad the my Bella will have someone to grow up with because I've had a wonderful childhood growing up with my other dog cousins!

This image is what is feels like to be able to share your time with someone you love!

Yukon Quest Update

My buddy Marty is currently in 5th place and taking a rest at the Two River Checkpoint. He's about 4 hours behind the guy in 4th place. He's got more dogs and anything can happen on the trail!

Check Updates here!
